Zulima V. Farber is a career litigator
with an outstanding record as a social activist within the
Hispanic and African American communities and as an advocate
for women's issues. Farber served as New Jersey Public Advocate
and Public Defender in former Governor Florio's cabinet. In
early 2006, Farber was confirmed as Attorney General in Governor
Corzine’s cabinet.
Farber joined
Lowenstein Sandler in 1981, and became a partner in 1986. Before
this, Farber served as assistant counsel to Governor Brendan
Byrne and as assistant prosecutor in Bergen County.
From 1987 until 2006 Farber served as
a member of the NJ State Advisory Committee to the United States
Commission on Civil Rights. She also has served on the boards
of several organizations including the 2001 New Jersey Congressional
Redistricting Committee, the New Jersey Sports and Exposition
Authority, the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, and
Liberty Health Care Corporation.
Farber is
a member and former president of the Hispanic Bar Association. She
is a member of the State Bar Association, the Association of
Black Women Lawyers, and the Garden State Bar Association.
Farber received her B.A. and her M.A.
from Montclair State College, and her J.D. from Rutgers School
of Law, Newark.
